To Legislative Assembly of Ontario:

Twenty-four (24) per cent of the Ontario workforce representing over 1.56 million workers is not covered under the Workplace Safety & Insurance Act (WSIA) making them the most vulnerable.

According to several studies, including one commissioned by the WSIB, if all industry sectors and workers are covered, the system would be better funded and able to extend more services to help injured workers while reducing costs for Ontario employers and making it possible to unwind long standing benefit reductions affecting workers.

Expanded coverage would add $250 M to Ontario’s economy and drive $107 M in OHIP cost relief.
WSIB coverage should be expanded because 100% of Ontario’s workers deserve no fault compensation for workplace injuries, illnesses and fatalities.
